Concussion is a traumatic brain injury that can have long term mental and physical impacts. It is important that all those involved in skating are aware of the risk and able to recognize symptoms of concussion.

  • Michigan has a Sports Concussion Law that organizations and parents are expected to comply with.
  • USFS provides a concusion education document detailing concussion, its risks, recognition, and what do do when a skater is involved in an incident that might result in concussion.
  • If you are interested in a more interactive dialogue please take a look at the CDC's "Heads Up On Concussion" training course.
  • Another interactive training tool has been developed by the ORCAS health technology company, and is known as Brain 101. This "School-wide Concussion Management" tool has separate modules targeting coaches, educators, parents, and student athletes.
